A mortgage is
a very serious commitment and you will be asked a range of detailed questions
by your UK mortgage brokers or direct lenders. Amongst other things, the mortgage
brokers and lenders will want to know:
• Your employment status
• Any other financial commitments you might have such as loans or credit
cards
• The type of property that you wish to purchase
• The size of deposit that you are intending to make
While some UK mortgage brokers and the lenders they work with reply on credit
scoring in order to sort applications, others will judge each case on a one-by-one
basis. This is an especially common practice with bad credit mortgages.
As a rough guide, below we have aimed to give you an idea of some of the things
that you will probably need to have to hand when making your mortgage application.
• If you already have a mortgage then you will need last year’s
mortgage statement.
• Pay slips covering the last three months.
• Bank statements covering the last three months.
• P60 forms covering the last two years.
• The sales particulars and documentation of the property, if you are intending
to purchase.
